The Newsome High School Swim and Dive program has worked to create a culture of excellence in the pool, in the classroom and in our community. We strive to be leaders in all that we do… respecting the sport, our opponents and the school that we represent.
This website was created to display updated and timely information on our current swim teams and to honor the great student-athletes from years past.
In 20 years, our program has accomplished GREAT things. But the best is yet to come.

Jake Cool came to Newsome as a sophomore in the Fall of 2019. He brought joy and life to our swim program for almost a full year before he unexpectedly passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition in the summer of 2020. But in the time that he was a part of our Newsome Swim and Dive Family, he was a light that shined brightly to everyone that had the opportunity to meet him.
In his memory, we have created a yearly award that will recognize the athlete in our program that most closely displays the attributes that made Jake so unique. Jake embodied the definition of the term “Teammate”. He was a helper. He was an encourager. He was a great friend. And he was a competitor.
Jake’s parent’s, Jacob and Katie, have sponsored the creation of the award and the plaque that is displayed with the yearly winners in the main office at Newsome High School.
